Biophysics Summer School
The Summer School in Biophysics at ORNL targets senior undergraduate, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in "exact sciences" (physics, mathematics, computer science, chemistry, materials sciences, etc.) who are interested in considering biosciences as future career direction.
Goals are
- to expose the participants to research opportunities at the interface of biological and physical & computational sciences by presenting grand-challenge biological problems that showcase the power of relevance of physical and computational sciences to important biological problems,
- to create an interface through which the biological community can present the "exact sciences" community with problems that require advanced technical approaches and therefore are highly interdisciplinary.
This annual workshop covers talks by leading scientists as well as poster sessions and presentation of research opportunities at ORNL and UT Knoxville.
Xiaolin Cheng is a member of the organizing committee.
